At Kalpana Systems, we’re on a mission to accelerate sustainable solutions by advancing spatial Atomic Layer Deposition (sALD). Our roll-to-roll sALD platform addresses critical limitations in current coating technologies, enabling breakthroughs in flexible solar cells, batteries, and beyond.

Your Role as Business Developer
As Business Developer, you will play a pivotal role in expanding Kalpana’s impact and visibility. You will identify new business opportunities, build and sustain customer relationships, and position our brand across strategic markets. This is a highly visible, customer-facing role where communication, initiative, and creativity are key. As a global business with customers and partners across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, this role requires regular interaction with diverse cultures and markets. Occasional international travel is part of the job, as you’ll represent Kalpana Systems at key meetings, events, and industry forums around the world.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with R&D, engineering, and marketing and report to the Lead Business Development. As an early team member, you will help shape the commercial trajectory of a high-potential deep-tech company.

Tasks and Responsibilities
• Lead Generation & Pipeline Development: Identify and engage with prospective customers, industry partners, and research institutions.
• Customer Engagement: Represent Kalpana at events, conferences, and client meetings. Act as our brand ambassador and first point of contact.
• Public Speaking & Presentations: Deliver clear, compelling presentations on our technology to diverse audiences, from researchers to corporate executives.
• Marketing & Positioning: Develop marketing strategies and external communications to strengthen Kalpana’s presence across industry channels.
• Commercial Strategy Support: Assist in defining product-market fit, pricing strategy, and go-to-market plans.
• Collaboration: Coordinate closely with technical teams to align customer needs with technology capabilities.

What We Are Looking For
• A master’s degree in Science, Engineering, Business or another relevant field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in business development, sales, or a customer-facing marketing role — preferably in a B2B high-tech or deep-tech environment.
• Strong public speaking and communication skills — you are confident and clear when engaging external stakeholders.
• A self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset: proactive, resourceful, and ready to take ownership.
• Affinity with technology and the ability to understand and communicate technical value propositions.
• Experience in clean tech, materials science, or venture building is a plus.
